Kathmandu, March 8: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) today warned of rolling back its support to the incumbent government if its demands were not addressed in the next seven days.
The UDMF leaders called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at latter’s official residence in Baluwatar and presented him with a five-point memorandum.
They have demanded withdrawal of local elections’ programme, amendment of the constitution, keeping the local level structure within the provincial jurisdiction and implementing the three-point agreement reached during the formation of the government.
Sadbhawana Party Co – Chairman, Laxman Lal Karna, said the demands include declaring the cadres killed during Saptari’s incident as martyrs along with compensation. The Front has also demanded formation of a high level commission to carryout investigation into the incident.
PM’s Chief Political Advisor, Chakrapani Khanal, shared that the PM has received the Front’s demands. He added that the PM assured the UDMF leaders that he would hold discussion with the ruling parties and the opposition before taking steps to address it.
