Nepal-India relations unique – Ambassador to India Upadhyay

 

Kathmandu, March 31, Nepal’s Ambassador to India Deep Kumar Upadhyay on Friday said Nepal-India relation is a confluence of political, socio-cultural, economic and multiple other components.
“These relations are characterized by a firm commitment to the principles of peaceful coexistence, sovereign, equality, mutual respect, understanding of each other’s aspirations and respect for each other’s sensitivities,” he said while addressing a Joint Session on Nepal-India relations organised in India to launch the Ambassadorial Lecture Series on the joint initiative of the University of Delhi and Ministry of External Affairs of India.
Upadhyay also stressed the need for managing the open border between Nepal and India in ways of facilitating free movements of people, trade and transit, according to a press statement available to Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
He also stated that Nepal and India are endowed with resources, both natural and human, and a collective will is required to build up their close partnership to turn these resources into wealth for their mutual benefits.
The event was also attended by former Indian ambassadors to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee and Jayant Prasad, leader D P Tripathi, Professor S D Muni. RSS
