712 representatives will be elected from Kathmandu district in local-level election

 

Kathmandu, April 12, A total of 712 people’s representatives would be elected from Kathmandu district in the local-level election.
District Election Officer, Chandra Gautam, shared that 712 people’s representatives would be elected from Kathmandu Metropolitan City and 10 municipalities in the district.
He added that one mayor and deputy mayor in Kathmandu Metropolitan City and 10 municipalities, chairpersons and four members would be elected in 138 wards. The new constitution has the provision that there should be women’s representation to the post of mayor or deputy mayor and as well as one woman and Dalit woman out of four members.
The highest number of representatives would be elected from Kathmandu Metropolitan City, which stands at 162. The KMC has 32 wards.
Similarly, 77 representatives would be elected from Chandragiri Municipality, 67 from Budhanilkantha Municipality, 57 each from Tarkeshwor and Sankhu Municipalities, 52 each from Kritipur and Nagarjun Municipalities and 47 each from Kageshwori, Gokarneshwor, Shankharapur and Dakshinkali Municipalities.
