Local bodies’ come to a standstill

Demanding continuity of temporary and contract-based staff, they have called for permanent status through the new act and regulations. They are staging a sit-in in front of their own offices today.
As a result, service recipients have been severely affected. This is the latest form of protest by the local body employees, who are on a strike since February 5.
There are more than 6,000 temporary and contract-based employees working for the local bodies.
