Tourism vital of country’s economic prosperity

 

Pokhara, The role of tourism in Nepal’s economic prosperity has been underlined by the participating tourism entrepreneurs and government officials at the 16th Annual General Assembly (AGM) and 9th Convention of Pokhara Tourism Council on Monday.

Western Regional Administrator, Yam Kumar Khatiwada, said tourism is an industry holding a national priority and insisted on a joint effort from the government and the private sector in realizing the possibilities it held.

Kaski’s Chief District Officer, Hari Prasad Mainali, said the government’s policy must be tourism – friendly. Noting the impact of political instability in the sector, Mainali expressed hope that the local level elections will help direct it into a new positive path.

Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industries President, Bishwo Shankar Palikhe, stressed on the need for all the entrepreneurs affiliated with the tourism sector to unite and contribute towards country’s tourism development and national economy.

Pokhara Tourism Council Chairman, Som Thapa, said the council was advancing its programmes to make contribution in overall tourism sector of the country. RSS
